Self storage is a service offering flexible, do-it-yourself storage for business and domestic customers. We provide clean, dry, individually alarmed storage units, access to which is available to our customers anytime during opening hours (access outside hours can also be arranged at no extra cost). Your storage unit is locked with your own lock ensuring that only you have access to your goods.
The Self Storage Industry started in the United States and Australia some 35 years ago. In the United States there are over 32,000 separate Self Storage facilities offering some 1.5 billion square feet of Self Storage space. The Industry has developed in Europe over the past 20 years where there are now more than 500 facilities. There are over 100 facilities in the Greater London Area alone. In Ireland, there are facilities in Dublin, Cork, Belfast, Limerick, Waterford and Letterkenny.
We are the largest Self Storage company in Ireland with 7 premises in Dublin, Belfast, Cork and Waterford. A typical facility would have approx. 80,000 square feet of space to let with over 800 self storage units of different sizes on multiple floors to accommodate every possible need.
We have over 3500 Units covering 480,000 square feet within our branches ranging in size from 20/25sq.ft. to 1,000sq.ft. Our units are approximately 10 ft. in height. Simply use the space estimator below to help you identify the size of unit to suit your needs.

You need your own lock to ensure that you are the sole key holder for your unit. You can use any padlock you wish or alternatively Padlocks can be purchased at each of our centres.
The cost of a storage unit depends upon the size required. If you are not sure how much space you may need, we suggest that you speak to a member of our staff to determine the optimum storage for your requirements. A price can then be quoted on the correct size unit. U Store It has a wide range of units and lockers starting from as little as €9 per week plus VAT.
We have one simple price based on the storage capacity of each unit and there are no hidden charges. The only additional cost you might want to consider is additional contents insurance if required.
We offer a number of payment options, including debit card, credit card, or direct debit. Our fees are payable monthly in advance.
No you don’t. You sign a straightforward standard storage agreement prior to moving into your unit. This can be done electronically and completed in minutes!
We would advise booking a storage unit, even if you do not have exact dates and we can hold the space for you. If your needs and timing are specific, we would recommend that you book your unit at least a week in advance.
Yes, a member of our staff will complete our storage agreement with you, in person or electronically and then you can move your goods in straight away.

You have unlimited access to your goods during our opening hours. Access outside these hours can be organised by prior arrangement (T&C’s apply).
You can bring your goods in your own vehicle. We have ample free car parking and large sheltered loading/unloading areas at each facility. Alternatively, we can recommend local van hire or removal companies to help with your transportation.
Our security procedures and technologies are second to none and include the following safeguards:
- Each unit is locked using your own padlock for added security
- Access to the storage area is only possible with a unique code for each customer that is only valid for the duration of the self storage rental period
- The building proper has a master alarm system that will activate and inform the Gardai of any break-ins
- Each unit also contains an individual alarm, which can only be activated/deactivated with your unique code
- Our computerised access system logs who is in the building at all times
- Our on-site staff and management are notified immediately if someone attempts to enter the wrong unit
- Further visual protection is provided through 24-Hour closed circuit TV monitoring covering both the interior and exterior of the building
The minimum period is 2 weeks. We request 14 days notice to vacate your unit.
There is no maximum storage period and we offer on-going discounts the longer the rental term goes on.
We request 14 days notice of your intention to vacate your unit. Notice can be given in person, in writing, phone or e-mail. It is important to remove your padlock and notify staff once you have vacated your unit. This is to avoid being charged further once you have moved out. A refund will be processed for any unused monies that you have paid.
You can store almost anything in our units exceptions are:
- Food or perishable goods unless securely packed so that they are protected from vermin.
- Birds, fish, animals or any other living creatures.
- Combustible or flammable materials or liquids such as paint, petrol, oil or cleaning solvents, explosives, weapons or ammunition.
- Chemical, radioactive material, biological agents.
- Toxic waste, asbestos or other materials of a dangerous nature.
- Any item which emits any fumes, smell or odour.
- Any illegal substances, illegal items or goods illegally obtained or compressed gasses.

Yes, provided arrangements have been made, we will accept deliveries on your behalf and provide an area for you to leave collections to be picked up by your designated courier.
Yes, we will provide you with your own unit, sized to your individual needs, with or without racking, and you or your staff will look after your own records on your own schedule. You have absolute control over your files and records with your own employees. It also makes economic sense in that you can avoid the high service fees charged by Records Management companies.
This is ideal for a small to medium sized professional office, whose valuable office space is being encroached upon by file cabinets, many of whom are only occasionally used. In fact, in some cases, using Document Self Storage can preclude moving to a larger office, or adding on to a building for an expanding business. See Document Storage page.
There are a number of different size trolleys and pallet trucks available free of charge for customer use. We have dock leveller facilities at most of our locations to assist with container deliveries, especially if you are relocating internationally.
There will always be a trained member of staff available during reception opening time.
