How often does payment for a storage unit take place?/How and when do I pay for my storage?

The payable amount for keeping the storage unit will be charged to your card monthly. All payments are in advance.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

One of the benefits U Store It offers is it doesn’t require a deposit in advance to book a self-storage unit in one of our many storage facilities.

Can I pay for my storage with a credit card?

Yes, you can. We offer several payment options, including debit cards, credit cards, or direct debit. Our fees are payable monthly in advance.

How/when will I receive my refund?

You will receive your refund directly onto the credit/debit card you provided to pay your storage fees. Depending on your bank or card provider, it can take 5-10 days before the amount is available on your account.

How much is storage per month in Dublin?

The monthly cost of the Dublin storage unit depends upon the size required. If you are unsure how much space you may need, we suggest you speak to a staff member to determine the optimum storage for your requirements.

Do you offer discounts for long-term storage?

Yes, U Store It offers discounts for all clients who book a storage unit for longer. We offer 20% off for the first 12 months. Learn more about our long-term storage offer here.

What is included in the price - and are there any hidden extras?

We have a simple price based on each unit’s storage capacity without hidden charges.

How can I get a quote for storage?

If you need a quote regarding the storage unit in any of our storage facilities, please pick up the storage location and fill out the form.

How do I book my storage?

For booking a storage unit, please contact our staff members at 1 800 786 734 or directly at the preferred location. Remember to choose the storage unit’s location and size first so it fits your requirements.

Security

Do I need to buy my own padlock?

Yes, you need your own lock to ensure that you are the sole key holder for your unit. You can use any padlock you wish or alternatively choose to purchase a padlock available at each of our centres.

Do I have to have insurance?

Yes, the policy of insurance is recommended as U Store It can’t be taken responsible for losses and damages such as loss of or damage to your property caused by fire, lightning, explosion, earthquake, aircraft, storm, flood, bursting and/or leaking pipes, theft accompanied by forcible and/or violent entry or exit, riot, strike, civil commotion, malicious damage and impact by vehicles. Having an insurance policy that covers the worth of your property is a recommended choice.

Are your storage sites secure?/How secure are the units?

We did our best to provide the highest level of security for your property in our storage facilities. Our security precautions include unique pin code access for each storage room, 24-hour alarm monitoring and CCTV. We also have manned onsite security 7 days a week.

What to Store and What not

Are there any limitations on what I can store?/What should I not put in a storage unit?/Is there anything I can't store?

You can store almost anything in our units. Still, there are the following exceptions:

  • Food or perishable goods unless securely packed so that they are protected from vermin
  • Birds, fish, animals or any other living creatures
  • Combustible or flammable materials or liquids such as paint, petrol, oil or cleaning solvents, explosives, weapons or ammunition
  • Chemical, radioactive material, biological agents
  • Toxic waste, asbestos or other materials of a dangerous nature
  • Any item which emits any fumes, smell or odour
  • Any illegal substances, illegal items or goods illegally obtained or compressed gasses

Can I put a TV in a storage unit?

Yes, you can put a TV and any other home appliances. If stored technical devices have batteries, please take batteries out before storing them.

Can I run my business from my storeroom?

You can’t run the business from the storeroom, but you can use our storage units to store all the necessary items to help your business grow. It is cheaper and thereby more affordable than renting the warehouse, especially in the question of start-ups and small businesses.

Can I store a Car?

Unfortunately, we don’t offer car storage as this type of vehicle may contain petrol and oil, which are prohibited in our storage units regardless of size.

Can I store a motorbike?

Unfortunately, you can’t store a motorbike as it may contain traces of petrol and oil. These substances are not allowed in our storage units.

Can I store a mobile home/caravan?

No, you can’t keep a mobile home or caravan in our storage units. These vehicles may contain traces of petrol, oil and gas. We don’t allow these substances in our storage units as they are flammable.

Can I store my furniture?

Yes, you can store your furniture. When booking the storage unit, consider the size of the furniture pieces you want to keep in it.

Can I store a bike?

Yes, you can store a bicycle in our storage units. Remember that the storage unit must be big enough for your bike and other property items you plan to hold with it.

How do you pack a storage unit?

How you pack your items for a storage unit may depend on what you want to store, the type of storage unit and the rental period you are interested in. There are some packing tips we collected for you to check.

Do you offer both indoor and outdoor storage units?

Unfortunately, we do not offer outdoor units in our storage facilities. However, in all branches (except Charlestown and Belfast Duncrue Street), you can find drive-up units with external access.

When can I access my belongings?

You can access your belongings anytime during opening hours. We can also arrange access outside opening hours without extra costs.

Can I change the size of my unit if my storage needs to change?

Reservations at U Store It facilities are flexible, and we can change the storage unit later to suit you. If your storage requirements change, you can get more or less space anytime.

Can I transfer to another unit if I have too much or too little space?

You are welcome to move to another size unit at any time, depending on your storage requirements and our unit availability.

I know I need storage. How does it work?

Self-storage is a service offering flexible, do-it-yourself storage for business and domestic customers. We provide clean, dry, individually alarmed storage units and access available to our customers anytime during opening hours (we can also arrange access outside hours at no extra cost). Your storage unit is locked with your own lock, ensuring that only you have access to your goods.

How do I access my storage room?

For access to your storage room, you use a pin code system which is unique to your account. The pin code deactivates the individual alarm on your storage unit. Once you become our customer, you can access your storage room anytime during our opening hours without prior notice.

If you need access to your storage room outside our opening hours, contact the reception of your branch location in advance. The access code remains the same throughout your stay unless you request to change it. The same code is valid outside the regular opening hours, but this must be arranged in advance.
