This week, towns and cities across Ireland, and indeed the world will turn green in celebration of our beloved patron saint – St Patrick. There are numerous events taking place nationwide which will entertain people young & old. Here is some information about the events that will take place in each of U Store It’s four locations around Ireland.

Dublin

The annual St Patrick’s day festival – which is it’s 21st year – will run from the 17th to the 20th of March. Highlights of the festival this year will include, street theatre, Céilí, live music, treasure hunting, craft beer & whiskey tasting, a 5k road race and of course the main event – the parade itself which will kick off at 12 noon at Parnell Sq and will finish at St Patrick’s cathedral via Trinity College.

Cork

This year’s Cork festival will also take place from March 17th- 20th and will feature comedy, circus performances & live traditional music. The central theme of the parade itself will be based around commemorating the 1916 Easter rising. The parade will feature actors portraying the leaders of the rising and the re-enactment of some historic scenes from 1916 also. The parade leaves from South Mall at 1pm and concludes at Merchant’s Quay.

Waterford

This year’s Waterford parade will celebrate the rich heritage & diverse culture of the city, both past & present. There will be performances from local street theatre company Sproai while there will also be live music and a treasure hunt & play area for kids also. The festivities will begin at 1pm at the Quays.

Belfast

The Belfast festivities will encompass a “rainbow” theme which will showcase feature groups from all walks of life & cultures. There will also be live music including a free concert featuring 2014 X-factor winner Ben Haenow & former Westlife member Brian McFadden. The parade will start at City Hall at 12 noon and finish up at Custom House Square where the free concert will take place.
